Description

The homes of Villa da Ribeira Brava are built into the steep sides of the ribeira, an interior valley on the island São Nicolau. The first settlements were made in the valley in the early 16th century and because of semi-permanent streams and rivers, unusual in Cape Verde, there were some successful agricultural and livestock developments that attracted further settlers.
