Abstract

In my Professional Impact Project I tested the hypothesis that DBT's Radical Acceptance skills help to decrease symptoms of Depression, Anxiety and Stress. The client, who participated in this project scored high on Avoidance and Emotional Expression Inhibition. I utilized the following DBT strategies: Nonjudgmental Stance, Observe and Describe, which were applied at the initial stage of therapy (Sessions 2-7). The outcomes of the intervention were measured by DAS-21 scale - first at the baseline, and then following the six consecutive, weekly therapy sessions. The changes over time, on the measured scales, seem to support the hypothesis.
