This evidence-based project aims to identify areas of improvement for nursing staff and providers in preventing hospital-acquired pressure injuries (PI) by utilizing a pre- and post-survey, as well as a new guideline to assess and aid assistance in choosing the correct preventive agents. The project, to be conducted in a fifteen-bed medical intensive care unit, includes all nursing staff, nursing assistants, and advanced practice providers in an educational session as well as implementation of the new guideline for assisting with choosing appropriate preventative measures for individual patients. Anticipated outcomes include increased knowledge of PI prevention among staff, as well as an overall decrease in the development of PI in the intensive care unit.
