As depression rates continue to increase with consequential disability, it is vital to consider diverse, holistic, evidence-based treatment approaches. This quality improvement project enhances Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) knowledge and understanding of the benefits of naturopathic medicine in the management of depression. This project is to deliver comprehensive education through a live virtual session surrounding the use of naturopathic medicine in the long-term management of depression in adults, therefore supporting the need for interdisciplinary collaboration with medical physicians and recognition of this type of care as primary care. Each participant will receive a clinical handbook as reference to types of physical activity, nutritional balance, and mindfulness practices presented during the presentation. The change in knowledge and the effectiveness of the educational program will be determined by comparing pretest and posttest scores. The goal of this project is to promote professional inclusion of naturopathic approaches in the care of patients with depression.
