This evidence-based project aims to understand how the addition of integrative therapy into adult cancer patients’ treatment plans will impact patients’ stress and anxiety levels and quality-of-life. The study will take place in an outpatient oncology clinic with oncology-certified nurses and acupuncturists trained to provide integrative therapies to eligible cancer patients. The effectiveness of integrative oncology modalities including music therapy, meditation, yoga, and virtual reality-based relaxation will be analyzed. Measuring patients’ symptoms and increasing nurse knowledge of the variety of therapies can promote patient healing and allow for further utilization of these interventions in various patient care settings. Anticipated results will provide evidence on the effectiveness of integrative therapies on mental health hygiene and support its implementation to standard of care for adult oncology patients.
