This photograph shows hows contemporary residents of Cidade Velha have integrated around the ruins of Ribeira Grande, a once grand city in colonial Cape Verde. This photo also gives a good view of the ruins of a cathedral that was Cape Verdes first church. The view in this picture is likely made from Fort Real do São Filpe.
