Description

An unidentified woman spins a fiber which is believed to be sisal. The sisal fiber, harvested from sisal, part of the agave family, can be used to produce fine fabric comparable to silk, but is mostly used for practical applications, such as cordage, tine, matting, rugs and brushes. Sisal fiber is strong, durable, stretchable and resists deterioration in salt water.
