Undated. Inscribed on reverse by artist; "Bas-relief, wood" "Facing The Light" "Elizabeth Prophet". Polychrome wood. Held in the collection of the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society. (Amaki, 132) It is suggested that Prophet began working in bas-relief after viewing the extensive relief work of sculptor Alfred Janniot (1889–1969) at the Exposition Coloniale Internationale de Paris, 1931.
