The Audubon Aquarium of the Americas, part of the Audubon Nature Institute, was founded by a joint venture called the "Bienville Group," a group of five New Orleans architectural firms. Construction was completed in 1990: 110,000 square feet with three stories, and built of concrete with glazed ceramic brick.
