A photograph of Faneuil Hall taken in 1972. A statue of Samuel Adams is in front of the building. Faneuil Hall was gifted to the city by merchant Peter Faneuil, and since 1742 has served as a market and political oratory space, including the Boston Tea Party revolutionaries and later abolitionists such as Frederic Douglas and the Massachusetts Anti-Slavery Society.
