A dozen children pictured by a stone pond. In the background is what appears to be some of the irrigation infrastructure of a farm. Because of the dry and hot conditions on the Cape Verde archipelago, most of the farms are very small and require year round irrigation in order to survive. The children are between the ages of 5 and 12.
