This cassette was recorded at the First Cape Verdean Convention in Providence, Rhode Island on March 3, 1974. Side 1 of the tape (0:00-3:30) contains an interview with Tony Santos. The remainder of Side 1 is blank, and, similarly, about 25 minutes of silence leads side two before the recording resumes. This stretch of silence has been edited out of the digital file. The recording on side two begins at 3:31 in the digital file with an interview with Alex (Alexander Joaquim) Tavares, State Photographer. Following this interview there is an audible cut. The recording resumes with a conversation with a person identified as Tony (5:46-10:34). A gap of silence follows, and then a partial interview with Yvonne Smart runs to the end of the recording (11:29-12:55).
