Abstract
This study analyzed 102 newspaper articles on elder financial exploitation (EFE) from 2018 to 2023, revealing that media coverage primarily focused on scams and white-collar crimes, neglecting other types of financial abuse. It found that elderly women living alone with cognitive impairments were most affected. Through qualitative and quantitative analysis, the study identified key patterns and demographic details but highlighted the need for more balanced media representation. Recommendations include targeted policy interventions and increased collaboration among policymakers, law enforcement, and advocacy groups. Future research should explore EFE in cultural contexts over time to better inform prevention strategies.
