Baìa das Gatas is, like Calhau, a fishing village that doubles as a weekend resort. There bay is shielded by a natural barrier, which creates a lagoon that is perfect for swimming. From the bay you can see Santa Luzia on the horizon, an uninhabited island to the south east of São Vicente.
